Inspiring and homey cottage with an amazing view of Petty Harbour
Access was a bit difficult (Cavell's Lane is kind of a steep climb) but on the positive side - it was definitely a good daily work-out and the view was worth it.
I loved Caplin Cottage; from the moment I walked in - the photographs, the artwork, the view!! The cottage had everything I needed and more; comfy bed, multi-coloured "pear" soaps (my favourite) in the bathroom, beautiful stainless steel pots and pans and most importantly, maps and guide books of the East Coast Trail - written by Peter himself. Woke up each morning with the sound of the Atlantic and had breakfast on the veranda watching all the comings and goings of the fishing boats. The East Coast Trail - "Motion Path" is adjacent to the cottage - great for hikers. In the evening, I was captivated by Peter's library with books by local writers.

Excellent in every way -- we hope to be back some day.
A lovely, traditional cottage with a great view over the harbour. Our friendly host met us but also left clear instructions and contact information. Excellent seafood restaurant a short walk away. We felt fortunate to have found this place for our first visit to Newfoundland. Great library, wi-fi, hot water, art work and coffee!

Great place to stay!
It was very homey, beds were very comfy. Were there thought Tropical Storm Chris - owner made sure we were okay- the little cottage rode out the wind and rain easily. Woke to a beautiful sun and view of charming port and ocean front.

Amazing views of the harbour!
There's no parking with the property except down at the bottom of a steep hill. Wouldn''t be good for elderly or disabled. Especially in winter months. The oven wasn't working properly and we didn't get to cook all our food. The valve on the toilet was stripped and there was a loud steady sound of water running lol. Pro's: It's the cutest little cottage, decorated and filled with NFLD! We had an awesome stay besides the small issues. The views are amazing and I wish it was summer time when we stayed here. I'll definetly be back in the warmer months.
